After a thorough internal investigation the US Forest Service reports that they started the two fires that combined to become the largest fire in New Mexico history. They were accidental. One fire they started and didn’t realize they hadn’t put it out. The other was a “controlled burn” that just got away from them. And the report is really official looking.
